SiComb webinar: “Applied technology steps towards implementation of silicon carbide frequency comb”

Join the informative webinar of SiComb stepping toward a transformative path in revolutionising laser applications on Feb 27, 2024. Time 10AM-12AM [click here to register] and discover the steps of applied technology towards implementation of silicon carbide frequency comb. Our webinar focuses on the purpose of SiComb project to replace frequency combs with a technology that is space-saving, energy-saving and with bigger data transmission capacity. Engage with a team of researchers, and participate in a discussion developing an innovative chip-based optical frequency comb.

Agenda Highlights

Overview by Project Coordinator: Get an in-depth look at the SiComb project, its goals, and its significant role in advancing a chip made of silicon carbide. Learn about our mission instrument to achieve a technological breakthrough in laser-based technologies and open up new areas of application with our project coordinator Haiyan Ou.

Partners’ Presentations: Discover success experiences from researchers and explore opportunities in laser-based technologies to develop a technology that is deemed to deeply impact diverse areas of science and engineering:

  1. Testing setup customization by Additive Manufacturing: Valentina Bertana from Politecnico di Torino will report about the customization of specific testing setups, including the one produced for SiComb project, together with other examples from past experiences. Particular attention will be given to 3D printing as fabrication technology, used to satisfy the research partner requirements for particular testing activities.

  1. Fabrication of Microring Resonators on Amorphous Silicon Carbide on Insulator Platform: Yaoqin Lu, from DTU will discuss the nanofabrication of integrated photonic devices and the future photonic applications of amorphous silicon carbide.

  1. Integrated 4H-silicon carbide on insulator microresonator based optical frequency comb: Adnan Ali, from DTU will specifically highlight the demonstration of Kerr optical frequency comb (OFC) and explore the various rich dynamics of OFC in a 4H-SiCOI-based microresonator.
