Politecnico di Torino visits SiComb coordinator in Denmark
DTU researchers hosted Politecnico di Torino team to share findings and new ideas in the framework of SICOMB Project
On the 18th of November, researchers from the Politecnico di Torino had the pleasure to visit SICOMB coordinator – Assoc. Prof. Haiyan Ou at Technical University of Denmark for a day seminar dedicated to Wide bandgap Semiconductor Photonics. During the day, researchers visited the laboratory which has the most advanced cleanroom facilities for nanofabrication in Nordic countries. These laboratories boast among the best nanofabrication facilities such as an e-beam writer, nanoimprint, and deep-UV stepper. The combination of these tools makes DTU a pioneer in the field of semiconductor nanophotonics research in Denmark.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Ou presented her respective advancement on wide bandgap semiconductors: GaN, SiC, and Lithium Niobate. Additionally, DTU team is working on exploring how to integrate colour centres and photonic crystal structures on SiCOI platform, to make high emission efficiency single-photon source. In the long run, the application of these technologies will be relevant in the field of bio and health technology, green and sustainable societies, quantum technology and Communication and cyber technology.
In the framework of the H2020 funded SICOMB project, the work provided by both partners is essential in developing the first on-chip optical frequency comb made of silicon carbide (SiC) and this day has been a great occasion to share findings and ideas as well as strengthen the collaboration between them.
